Apple offers great software at a reasonable price, like iWork ' 09. But hey, it' s a laptop.Overall, I have to say this computer is near-perfect, especially for students. Don' t get me wrong, it can run Steam games like Counter Strike: Source, Half Life 2 and Day of Defeat Source on high settings just fine, but I don' t think CoD 4 or anything higher-end would run very well on it. My only other complaint about the laptop is the video card. Throw iTunes in there and the computer would start to bog down. Right now, I have Google Chrome, Adium (IM client), Mail.app, and TweetDeck running, and I only 14 megs of RAM free.

2 gigs is what comes from the factory and that' s just not enough. There are only two things about this laptop that I can complain about.

I needed this because I have a large music collection, a Windows partition, and I shoot photos in RAW, so needless to say, the stock 160 GB drive wasn' t cutting it. Since I' ve owned it, I installed a 500 gig Seagate SATA drive. This battery is almost a year old, and I' m still pulling 4.5 - 5 hours out of it at a time. As a student, I need a laptop that' s light, portable, has a comfortable keyboard, and most of all, great battery life. This laptop has been (and still is) perfect for my needs.

When I got this notebook in July of last year, I was worried that it wouldn' t be a sufficient upgrade from my year-old white MacBook. Unfortunately I was sent a UK 3 pole plug instead of an Australian one and am not even sure whther an Australian one exists as I am yet to receive one. when using the grounded extension wire on the interchangeable adapter, the electrical leakage is no longer noticeable on the body but it seems pretty dodgy this to happen.I spoke with apple about the issue and they ended up sending me a 3 pole connector for the interchangeable adaptor.

I also run Windows 7 ењ†4 in VMWare Fusion with 4Gb assigned and it just flies of the screen.One downside: Both systems leak electrical current to the aluminium body when connected to a power point with the standard Apple 2 pole non grounded (no earth) connector which is the standard adapter realeased by Apple for the Australian market. Both systems have ењ†4 Snowleopard and hold 8Gb RAM. Apart from the card reader and the firewire port in the Pro both machines are identical twins. I own both the Macbook Pro 13 inch as well as it' s No Pro predecessor both in an aluminium case. I am going to take it back to the Apple store and share my results with you all when I get some feedback on if my Limited Warranty can fix this problem for free. I have no clue why the hell they chose plastic instead of having it that part Aluminum - very stupid. I believe it was because of the way it was made, not a design engineer, but anyone with eyes and a little common sense can tell that this is a true design failure on Apples end. It upset me so much, but I never took it back to the Apple Store because I figured, well it was my fault.Low and behold, I did some research to check to see if other people had the same problems and yes, if you Google, 'MacBook Pro Plastic Hinge' or 'MacBook Pro Plastic Hinge Cover' you'll find that many other people has had problems with this plastic hinge splitting and breaking apart little by little. So anyways, the reason why I gave the Design and Form Factor a 2 was because the way the plastic hinge was splitting apart a few days after I got the damn thing.

I treat it with the utmost care, polishing, cleaning, etc. I was excited when i first purchased this laptop and had no doubts about the fact that it was going to be (and still is) my little baby. So this was my first MacBook Pro as well as my first laptop.
